The sub-adult male Tiger, sitting under the bush waiting for surroundings to become calm and quiet so as to to cross the track to pass over the other side of the track near the river bank.
This shot was clicked on morning of 12th April, 2014, at Jim Corbett National Park, India.
We started early morning safari and on the track near Gairal Forest Rest House. As we drove on this track, one of my friends pointed out that there was something in the bushes just besides the track and the driver of our vehicle turned back and drove closer to the bush. These bushes marked the side of narrow track that we were travelling and here it was! the sub-adult male Tiger, sitting under the bush waiting for surroundings to become calm and quiet so as to to cross the track to pass over the other side of the track near the river bank.
It was so close that I could actually see its whiskers and eyelashes with the naked eye and feel his breadth.
Adrenalin levels were so high that some of us did not even know whether our pictures were okay or not. My hands were trembling with excitement (as they always do, when we get so close to one of our favourite subject).
This tiger was sitting under the bushes and was in shade. Being just 06:20 in morning, the light was also not bright under the bushes.
Clicked with Nikon D300s, Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8. Due to low light had to push ISO to 500, Aperture was 2.8 and still the shutter speed remained a slow 1/40. This is a handheld shot from atop a vibrating Maruti Gypsy vehicle with revving engine.
