  • The stare

On the day of holi, when we entered the RTR, we went to the same place in hope of seeing the T-19 and its cubs again. We waited almost all afternoon and many a times thought that the tiger family might have moved away from the spot, where we left them in the morning. It was a patch of grass near Dudhia Bawari. But our guide and driver insisted that the tigers must be sleeping in the patch of grass so we decided to wait there itself.

At 5 pm, the family got up from its afternoon siesta and walked one by one lazily out of the grass. As soon as the first cub walked out, a Sambhar deer started giving alarm calls. This cub walked slowly to a large log of tree and taking its cover looked at the Sambhar deer as if deciding if it was a prey which he could handle.
