Indian Monitor Lizard also known as Bengal Monitor (Varanus bengalensis), is a large lizard, which can grow upto a length of 175 cm from the tip of its snout to the end of tail. Their nostrils are slit like openings between their eyes and snout and can be closed at will to keep out water and debris. The skin has scales all over.
On the cool morning of 24th Feb, 2014, saw this healthy Monitor Lizard basking in sun at Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, Rajasthan, India.
